Terrific! Graphics like this are really helpful in understanding the situation at the time. Incidentally, Unionist sentiment was very strong in some areas that had relatively small slave populations; West Virginia, extreme western North Carolina, and north Texas, for example. These would have been the areas with the least vested interest in slavery. “Not about slavery” my ass.

Incidentally, I noticed that Liberty County, GA was 72.7 enslaved.
